Winston-fireworks-blogAlright folks, I’ll admit it, we Brits are a bit of an odd bunch…

Who on earth throws a party with fireworks and all, to commemorate a man who tried (and failed) to blow up the British Parliament?

For those of you non-Brits, Guy Fawkes Day, also known as Bonfire Night is today, on the 5th of November. It’s called Guy Fawkes Day really, as Guy was one of many blokes involved in the “Gunpowder Plot”, although he was the one caught guarding quite a few explosives. Anywho, we started celebrating the day by lighting bonfires across the city, in honour of the King at the time – King James, for surviving the attempt on his life.

Guy Fawkes Day is now a huge holiday here in the United Kingdom. And I love it! A lot of the firework displays happened already this past weekend in London. I was present to some of them, and wow, I was in awe… See my photo? But what I’m really looking forward to is tonight’s spectacular shows.

On that note… go grab some sparklers and enjoy Guy Fawkes Day!

As always, stay safe out there!

Cheerio,

Winston.
