Valentine scams_antivirus_blogWe’ve all been there, the awkward moment you receive a Valentine’s card from someone that you just don’t feel quite the same way about. Well this year you’ve got something else to worry about… especially if you go online without antivirus protection.

Try BullGuard Antivirus 2013, here!

1. First off, Valentine scams are predominantly spam and phishing attacks, but may also deliver computer worms and viruses.

So if you want to have a safe Valentine shopping spree, keep an eye out for promotions and fake Valentine’s gift coupons. Don’t click on just any offer that lands in your inbox or you run into while browsing the web – if it sounds too good to be true, it most probably is! If curiosity pushes you to click on it, you risk compromising your PC, or getting conned into sharing valuable personal information.

2. Everyone loves getting cards for Valentine’s Day, but a card is only special when it’s from someone you know.

If you receive what looks like an e-card from an unknown or suspicious email address, don’t open it! It might be malicious. An example of a Valentine e-card sent out by spammers via email is one that appears to come from ‘lovebug1136’ and leads to a shady dating site. This e-card has reportedly been making rounds since January 27. But we expect to hear more of it in the run-up to Valentine’s. Here’s how it looks like.

3. Finally, as if it’s not bad enough being single on Valentine’s Day, cybercriminals are especially targeting you!

If you’re on an online dating site, beware of overseas romance scams. These typically prey on your emotional triggers in an attempt to obtain money, gifts and personal information. What you may think to be a hot blonde, could actually be a hairy hacker. Keep alert, don’t let your heart fail you – now is the time to utilize all of the knowledge you’ve gained from the BullGuard blog.

And if you may have forgotten some of our tips, BullGuard’s antivirus software protects you from all of those unwanted Valentine worms and phishing scams. What’s more, it includes a Spamfilter that sort out all those dangerous emails.

Go ahead and make dinner reservations online, worry-free! Get BullGuard Antivirus 2013 for yourself and your sweetheart today!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
