You heard a lot about malware or phishing sites that pose great danger to your personal and internet security. BullGuard’s Safe Browsing tool keeps an eye on your online activity and warns you immediately if you are about to access links crafted by cybercrooks or websites that deliver malware code or host phishing attempts.
By using BullGuard’s Safe Browsing tool you can be sure the websites you visit are safe. It comes into play whenever you access links received via email or displayed on a webpage, or while simply browsing through the search results retrieved by trusted search engines.
Safe link. Checked!
BullGuard signals safe links with green check marks and unsafe links with red check marks.
Once you install BullGuard on your PC, go to Settings > Real Time Antivirus > Browsing, make sure Safe Browsing is enabled and mark the websites you want to see safe results on. BullGuard highlights safe and unsafe links on Google, Bing, Yahoo and Facebook.
When you hover your mouse cursor over the check mark next to each link that appears in your search results or posted on Facebook, a pop-up is displayed. It tells you what kind of site it leads to and the threat level it poses. A detailed description is provided for each malicious link.
BullGuard has grouped websites based on the categories they belong to: links to malicious sites, phishing and fraud, botnet, command and control centers, malware call-home, malware distribution point or spyware and dubious software.
Accessing a link that has been flagged as malicious by BullGuard will display the following warning:
Select Leave website to return to the previous page.
Select More options and then Continue to website. NOT RECOMMENDED to visit the requested webpage at your own risk.
Safely download files to your hard drive
BullGuard closely monitors all the files you access on the websites you visit, or attempt to download to your computer. Files are scanned and the download is stopped immediately if viruses are detected.
Select Settings > Real Time Antivirus > Browsing and check Scan web traffic option.
A pop-up message warns you in case the file you attempt to download is harmful.
You can enable the pop-up message from the BullGuard application, by selecting Settings > Real Time Antivirus > Infections and check Display a pop-up under Alerts.
