Smartphone of the future_blog1Remember that? – The brick phone. It was ginormous! And now look at what we’re all carrying around. We’ve pretty much all gotten rid of the flip phone, and now our phones are all screen, and touch screen at that! They’re already basically mini-computers in your pockets, so what on earth will they look like and do for us in the future?

Looking at the trends in mobile development, here’s what we can expect:

  1. Augmented Reality

Use the camera on your phone to point it at somewhere ‘live’ to get information on it. For example, zoom in on a skyline and get information on the buildings you see.

  1. Built-in Projector

How handy would that be? Use your phone to project movies, YouTube videos and picture slide shows onto your living room wall.

  1. Holograms

You know the ‘how-to’ YouTube videos? Those could now become holograms coming out of your smartphone screen, showing you in 3D how to cook your favorite banana bread.

  1. Flexible Screens

They’ve already come up with flexible keyboards, so what about a smartphone that’s bendy like a wrist watch? Fold it up to put it in your pocket, and unroll it when you need to type a long email!

Crazy stuff! Who knows if any of these things will come to fruition? Although work has already started on built-in projectors and flexible screens probably aren’t too far off. How do you think the masses will react to new smartphone capabilities like these? It’s fun to think about it, isn’t it? What do you think we can expect to see in our future phones?

In the meantime, don’t forget to protect your current smartphone with the smartest mobile security suite from BullGuard.
