Today is Dogs in Politics Day, so of course I’ve been asked by BullGuard to write a piece. I’m assuming that most of you have never heard of Dogs in Politics Day, nor do you know what it’s about, which is why I’m here to share that with you!
September 23rd is Checkers Day and Dogs in Politics Day, and the two are connected. Oddly enough, it all started with our old President pal, Mr. Nixon, in 1952. He was a Presidential wanna-be at that point, and in a speech defending the accusations that he had utilized campaign funds inappropriately, he shared with his audience that his daughters had received a puppy as a gift, and that they would be keeping the puppy. The puppy was named Checkers, and his speech became known as such. September 23rd has celebrated the First Pets of all American Presidents since.

I must admit, I’m quite envious. I think I am certainly stately enough in stature to reside at the White House. As that’s unlikely, I move to suggest a day dedicated to me, Sir Winston Day has a nice ring to it wouldn’t you say?
