and other strange search engines, not the site i want
When this problem first occurred a red circle with a white cross appeared in the notification tray saying a virus was detected
however, after running thorugh various antivirus software such as avira and super antispyware, this red symbol disappeared
Nonetheless, everytime i use google and other search engines the same problem occurs- using google links to go.google and then a random website and yahoo links to go.yahoo and then a random website
another thing is that once a search is done on google, the font looks kind of different to how to it used to be- letters slightly bigger, headings in bold
and saveit on the desktop. Then double click on it(Fix_download.exe).
You may have to allow the program to download filesfrom the web!
The program download the necessary cleaning programs. Once the program is downloaded, there will be a folder on your desktop named Fix.– if the instructions not automatically opens, so double-click "FIX_manual.htm" in Fix folder.
Please follow the instructions and copy the logs here, in this Topic.
Note : Fix_download.exeis detected by some antivirus programsas a "RiskTool" /infection; it is not a virus. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
If necessary, temporarily disable your anti-virus, real-time protection before downloading
Hi, i would just like to inform you that i followed another thread on this website and the problem is now gone. I would therefore like to thank you for your assistance and rapid response.
Symptoms: Slow internet search, text fonts in Google are bigger than normal, redirected to go.google/go.yahoo/go.msn and then on to advertisements after clicking on links on Google page, unable to download any anti-spyware downloads, unable to download Microsoft’s malware program (says page is unavailable), unable to go to many trouble-shooting help forums and download pages (says pages are unavailable or that there is no internet connection), Malwarebytes and other malware programs will not run (they freeze up during the install)
After fighting with this for 2 days, I finally found the following solution posted (worked on 11/16/08):
Go to www.freedrweb.com/cureit/for free (you will have to do this on another computer, because the malware will not let you do it on the infected computer), download the program on a jump drive, and then run on the infected computer.
Then, after running cureit, you should be able to download and run Malwarebytes to get rid of the remaining residue.
It worked for me, my computer is back to normal (after cureit deleted a tdssxxom file in Windows/System32/drivers)!!!
