Well, that page didn't help out much considering that all the infected files from the Trojan.LowZones were .tmp files. So, I did boot into Safe Mode, deleted all my temp files, cookies, etc. and then I booted Windows normally and those files appeared again.
1. Installed CCleaner 2. Ran CCleaner 3. Downloaded and Installed AVG Anti-Spyware 4. After I rebooted the computer in preparation to run AVG for the first time, I double-clicked on the AVG icon, and a box popped up from AVG saying that Malware was found. The name was Adware.Webhancer. So, I clicked on "Clean and move to quarantine" and checked the "Use for all objects of this infection" box. 5. I ran the scan for AVG, and when it was completed, I clicked on "Apply All Actions". An hour and a half later, the program was not responding. So, I did a force quit and rebooted the program. AVG once again popped up a window saying that Malware was found. The name was Adware.CommAd. So, I clicked on "Clean and move to quarantine" and checked the "Use for all objects of this infection" box. 6. On the main screen in the Status area, AVG says that 857, 129 signatures are in my database, and that 2,373 Malware files were detected.
Everytime I start a scan and leave my laptop alone, the program stops responding. I can't even get a report out.
I keep running AVG scans, and they complete just fine after about an hour and a half. I then try to click the "Apply All Actions" button, then AVG locks up and stops responding.
So, here is a partial list of what AVG found as threats.
The threats that I did not write down are the rest of the MEDIUM threats and the 2 LOW threats that I have.
Please let me know if anyone can help me ASAP. I need full use of my laptop on Saturday morning. I want to avoid a reformat at all costs. Please help me.
Thanks.
