Hi all...

I've tried reading through the forum for solutions, but it seems to me that different computers might have slightly different problems. I have absolutely no clue with computers, so any help is GREATY appreciated.

The main problems i'm facing is most of the time when i startup my computer, it goes to my main windows page, but no icons come up and it just freezes. When i try to click on the start button, nothing happens, and i cannot access anything unless i open up my task manager. Even then, when trying to run a new task, nothing happens, until i remove explorer.exe, which is using up 99% of my cpu power. Then, the taskbar disappears, but when i try to run say IE as a new task, i am then able to surf the net. However, maybe once a week, none of this happens and i am able to use my computer, no problem!

Virus scan with Norton shows the st3.dll virus, which cannot be removed. Microsoft Antispyware scan reveals the "Trojan.Downloader.BHO.Req" spyware, which comes up EVERYTIME. And of course, i have the Winfixer2005 problem as well.

Reading the forum i've realised i need to do a Hijackthis scan, so here is my log... PLEASE HELP!

Hey smile

Let´s start with Spysweeper -

Download Free Trial of Spysweeper

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)
You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.

Reboot to safe mode

Click on "Options > Sweep Options" and check "Sweep all Folders on Selected drives". Check "Local Disc C".
Under What to Sweep: check all of the boxes except Sweep Contents of Compressed Files and do not Sweep Systemrestore Folder.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click "Remove". Click "Select All" and then "Next".

Spy Sweeper initially quarantines the spyware it finds on your computer. DO NOT remove items from Quarantine, until after you verify your system still functions properly once spyware has been quarantined. Reboot and ensure important programs still work before you remove any items from Quarantine.

Reboot, post new hijackthis log and tell how things are running

Regards - Touch

Hey Touch... a very happy new year to u!
I tried the Spy Sweeper suggestion, but after scanning, the only way to remove threats is by subscribing. Is this correct?
The main alerts i'm getting from Norton these days is of the trojan downloder 2pursuit virus.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
