Since yesterday I have been getting a few BLUE SCREEENS, not happy......
The file that is identified as the problem is FILESPY5.SYS

This morning i setup two tests

Bullguard ON - run O&O Defrag on my harddisk - I get a bluescreen of death and the filespy5.sys error
No Bullgurad - run O&O Defrag on my harddisk - No problems
Run Bullguard Firewall only - No Problems
Enable Antivirus- 20 seconds and dead.

Anyone seen this before

Thanks
Dave

THE ANSWER

Please uninstall Webroot Spysweeper as it has compatibility issues with BullGuard.

You may choose any other spyware-removal software of your choice, to make sure you are protected against malicious spyware/adware programs.

Afriaid not ,  I do not have the mentioned software but i do have the filespy5.sys issues - My guess is it was fixed in version 6 but as i have had to downgrade to 5.1 due to other bugs, i get this error  - usually when my PC is running some kind of maintenace program , such as defrag or anti-virus .

Anyone got a real fix for this ?confused

Thanks

Hi there Anthony,

The regspy5.sys issue has been solved in the latest version of BullGuard, 6.1. So please try to uninstall the current version and then reinstall the 6.1 version and then let us know if the issue persists.

Also, please try to contact us on the our email address support@bullguard.com if the problem persists or if you encounter any other problem after upgrading to the newer version.

Hi , Thanks for the response but it is problems with 6.1 that were the reason for downgrading.

I spoke directly to your support and the only resolution so far (since my post above)is to install v5.0 and not upgrade to 5.1 - This may not be upto date program files but at least it works and doesnt crash.

Hi there Anthony,

Please try to contact me on my personal email address:  andreio(at)bullguard(dot)com because I will have to send you diagnostic tools to establish exactly what is going wrong with the 6.1 installation.

Thank you for your cooperation.

As a footnote to this problem guys, Webroot software seems to have a lot of compatibility issues with a lot of software.
Avoid it at all costs.
I'm talking about Webroot Spysweeper (can't even remove malware that Spybot destroys every time, and Spybot is 100% free) and in particular Webroot Window Washer which claims to 'permanently' erase files and internet traces from your computer (while actually doing neither, download any free file recovery prgram from CNET.COM and see for yourself).  Webroot actually offered me a refund for these reasons.
Webroot is a company well worth stearing clear of in my opinion.

I used Bullguard 6.1 for about 6 months and had the same blue screen problem every time Windows (or any other product like games and java) automatically updated.

My PC has never had webroot spysweeper installed ever, because I've always used spybot S&D for spyware.

In the end I removed Bullguard 6.1 and installed a different security suite (trend).

This solved the problem.  My PC has gone from 3-4 BSODs per day to none!

Could someone at Bullguard please look at how 6.1 handles automatic updates?
