Can anyone advise me about Error Guard.  It keeps popping up telling me how many critical files I have on my computer and if I use them to scan, they can delete these files making my computer work pefect.  Have never heard of them before and wonder if they are just another spyware programme that happens to have attached itself to me whilst on the internet.  None of my antivirus or spyware software picked it out as being dodgy.

Are they a con and should stay well clear or are they OK.  Of course they want a fee for cleaning up my computer but don't like the privacy policy they run or the fact that they try and look like Microsoft.  They don't reveal very much about themselves on their website www.errorguard.com and feels to me a little on the dodgy side.

Any advice please feel free to let me know.

Thanks

I have no idea what Error Guard does but I can tell you not to delete it until you get some strong backup from your anti virus support.I have seen already that if you try to remove this that Error Guard will take over your computer and lock you out.You cannot even turn off the power in some cases and have to literally unplug it from the wall to shut it down.It denys you access to your cd rom so you can't do a OS reinstall and if you are going to save your puter you'll need an onsite tech to fix this for you.

If you have this on your puter do not try to remove it unless you get detailed information from a reliable source maybe like Norton or Macafee because this thing acts like a virus and may in fact be a big hoax.

I do not understand whats going on with this myself but can say I know three people who tried to remove it and it virtually destroyed their computers...so on this one guys be very careful ok.

A note to the techs on this site...please investigate this product in a safe environment so you can advise your members properly in how to address this matter as it could be a very serious threat that will cause you endless headaches.

Thank you
