I have a feeling it might have been infected in the past, but I dont recall when or by what. I've also ran CCleaner, Ad-Aware 2007, AVG anti virus and spybot search and destroy but they have not resolved the problem. I cant get rootchk to do anything on my PC. The log file from hijackthis can be seen below Any help would be much appreciated -------------------------------------------- Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 14:11:01, on 19/07/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Acrotray.exe C:\WINDOWS\CTHELPER.EXE C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\RemoteControl\RcMan.exe C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Shareaza.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exe C:\Program Files\VIA\RAID\raid_tool.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\RemoteControl\OSDMenu.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\tcpsvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmp.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqtgsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Tris\Desktop\alternativ.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Groove GFS Browser Helper - {72853161-30C5-4D22-B7F9-0BBC1D38A37E} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office12\GRA8E1~1.DLL O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\ssv.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar Helper - {AE7CD045-E861-484f-8273-0445EE161910} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dll O2 - BHO: EpsonToolBandKicker Class - {E99421FB-68DD-40F0-B4AC-B7027CAE2F1A} - C:\Program Files\EPSON\EPSON Web-To-Page\EPSON Web-To-Page.dll O3 - Toolbar: EPSON Web-To-Page - {EE5D279F-081B-4404-994D-C6B60AAEBA6D} - C:\Program Files\EPSON\EPSON Web-To-Page\EPSON Web-To-Page.dll O3 - Toolbar: Adobe PDF - {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Acrobat Assistant 7.0] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Acrotray.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTHelper] CTHELPER.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTxfiHlp] CTXFIHLP.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [McAfeeUpdaterUI] "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe" /StartedFromRunKey O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Logitech Hardware Abstraction Layer] KHALMNPR.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Kernel and Hardware Abstraction Layer] KHALMNPR.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BluetoothAuthenticationAgent] rundll32.exe bthprops.cpl,,BluetoothAuthenticationAgent O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [GrooveMonitor] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZoneAlarm Client] "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RemoteCenter] C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\RemoteControl\RcMan.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Shareaza] "C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Shareaza.exe" -tray O4 - Startup: Google Desktop Sidebar.lnk = C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher.lnk = ? and save it to your Desktop. Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive% (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix) and save it to your desktop. When you have done this, please boot into Safe Mode (Tap F8 during startup). Open the extracted folder - C:\ SDFix and doubleclick on RunThis.bat to start the script. Type Y to begin the script. It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot. When you hit any key, your computer will reboot. Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files. When your desktop loads, the utility will complete the removal and display Finished. Press any key again to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of Report.txt back in this thread along with fresh hijackthis log, and tell how things are running

Please download Combofix:
Close all other browser windows. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log. Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang.

I've tried it under safe mode, and as a normal user and as an administrator. Any more ideas??? Back to Top

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:
sfc /scannow
This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.
Reboot

Got the web working again, but i still cant access cmd.exe Back to Top
