Problem running cmd.exe

I'm trying to run the command prompt and everytime I attempt to run it I'm given the message "Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe' " But when I go in manually (thru explorer) the file exists but returns the exact same message if I attempt to run in from explorer.

I have a feeling it might have been infected in the past, but I dont recall when or by what.

I've also ran CCleaner, Ad-Aware 2007, AVG anti virus and spybot search and destroy but they have not resolved the problem. I cant get rootchk to do anything on my PC.

Hello

Download http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)
and save it to your desktop.

When you have done this, please boot into Safe Mode (Tap F8 during startup).

Open the extracted folder - C:\ SDFix and doubleclick on RunThis.bat to start the script.

Type Y to begin the script. It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot. When you hit any key, your computer will reboot. Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.

When your desktop loads, the utility will complete the removal and display Finished. Press any key again to end the script and load your desktop icons.

Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of Report.txt back in this thread along with fresh hijackthis log, and tell how things are running

I've extracted the files and rebooted in safe mode but I get the message "Windows cannot find 'C:\SDFix\RunThis.bat" I am logged in as the administrator but it still wont work, any ideas???

That´s odd. Nevermind, We´ll run combofix then -

Please download Combofix:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
and save to the desktop.

Close all other browser windows.

Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.

When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.

Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang.

I just get the message "Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe' " when I try to run the latest programme. I've tried it under safe mode, and as a normal user and as an administrator. Any more ideas???

Check for corrupted systemfiles -

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

Reboot

I've ran that code and after a few apparent CD read issues (and a few restarts) the only noticeable difference was that it removed the drivers for my internet! Got the web working again, but i still cant access cmd.exe

Also combofix and SDFix still dont work either - they both have the same issue
