Then uncheck from that list the programs that you do not need. Try to identify(remember) the program that has caused such a delay: one that you have installed right before this issue has appeared.Best regards,

I've recently heard about cisvc.exe that runs under your taskmanager.. You can disable this safely (for the most part) all it does is organize your stuff so it can be found faster and believe you me, it can max your cpu or hog up to 90% or even more! I've disabled mine.
The msconfig idea is the best way to control startup.. (as mentioned by andrei) Don't forget you have done it though (in case something stops working that you wanted to work, so you can go back in and readd it)
What I do is this, I run msconfig to filter out stuff I don't want, then I open task manager (cntrl-alt-del) and each thing I see listed I google it to see how important it is and whether or not I can stop it.. ;)
For example, in mine I stop mcafee's task scheduler (it is a nuisance), msmssnger.exe (sp?), mim, cisvc.exe and my tablet drivers (until I want to use it) and I stop as much as possible in there until I feel content..
So far, system runs great on things it really shouldn't run great on sometimes lol.. :D (multitasking)
I always recommend reading more than one page about whether or not it is important, some say yes, some say no, some say too early without knowing for sure ;)
