I am sure I read somewhere that a family using xp home on one computer through different windows user accounts can share one bullguard licence. I even thought 3 computers sharing an internet connection could share bullguard.
Problem I am having is that when we log off a windows user account, when we switch user or start a new user, windows xp2 security centre delares bullguard is switched off. Worse: clicking on the bullguard icon does not start bullguard, and cannot connect to server. You have to connect to internet explorer, find bullguard's website, register, then it will work, but only for that windows user. It is not practical to do this at each use, and would seem too expensive for a family of 5 to pay 5 times, especially for a single computer.
I did use the same email address [username] for each. Should I have created 5 seperate ones?
Copied shortcut to all users startup folder. Now get message, cannot have 2 instances of bullguard running, but don't mind having to close that box for reassurance that bullguard is actually running. I think there could be improvements made to bullguard 5.
This is a problem I have been locked in a disagreement with Bullguard tech support for months now.
The realtime virus scan engine is disabled when fast user switching is used with xp home or professional... I am told that the development team have been informed of this inconsistency that I spotted.
It's a shame that it took 3 months for Bullguard tech support to tell me that the only way round this problem is to log off and then log back on again with the different account instead of using fast user switching.
I think this will sort the problem out... please reply to this posting if it was any help to you...
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, you would think that fast user switching would work ok with Bullguard wouldn't you. It is because Bullguard has been unreliable in its being 'properly switched on automatically' every time the computer is used, that I have stopped recommending Bullguard to friends. Hopefully it will be better in the next version, together with a better helpfile. To end on a good note, real time support has improved, among other things, so there is much hope for the future.
Has anyone of you noticed, that apart from the „fast user-switch problem“ Bullguard can not be started under “restricted” user accounts? You will have to give every user Administrator-rights to do so, which can be in my eyes a security risk as well.
However Bullguards support informed me, that a new version (5.1) will fix some of the problems, which would be very appreciated.
I really love Bullguard and their top-notch support, but they will have to make a couple of improvements, before I buy it.
Thank you for your feedback. We are aware of this situation, and our team of developers is currently working at a new BullGuard build which is scheduled to appear very soon and will hopefully solve most of the present issues.
Please do not hesitate at all to send more feedback of any kind. To be sure that your suggestions reach the BullGuard Support Team, please use this forum or use >this web page< to send us any questions or suggestions.
Thank you for your understanding and collaboration.
