| Trying to acquire/upgrade the Service Pack as stated in the "before you post a log" post by Touch. Have followed all instructions as stated in windows' "steps to take before you install" link, signed on as admin, etc etc... I went to download and screen is stuck on the first page "Checking if your computer has the latest version of windows updating software for use with the website..." No "thinking" bar, no "waiting for..." messages, no activity whatsoever even after 30 minutes. Have tried 5 different times now. Is my possible HUGE infection problems preventing me from moving forward? Is it cause im on a wifi? Is it cause im !!!!!!ed? Somebody please help!!!! Would hate to have to not be able to get help cause i cant get the programs i need to determine whats wrong.
p.s. While this was stalling i skipped ahead and downloaded the CCleaner and the superantispyware, so i know at least im downloading ok right now. Just running super sluggish. And also, dont know if this might be my possible problem but during my crash/crisis i somehow wound up with AntivirXP08 on my system, which is continually popping up in the taskbar that i have 1700 viruses, and is occasionally redirecting my browser to its site. Cant turn it off and am recieveing an error message when i try to remove it through add/remove programs, yet i can remove other programs.
