I've noticed your posts are really comprehensive and easy to follow... Now, I hope you can help me!

i have lots of entries in this location
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\Indexer\CiFiles

which have a serial number such as 00010002.ci or 00010003.ci and so on.

may of them are duplicates (ie, i have two entries reading 00010002.ci)

is it safe to delete any or all such files?

many thanks

Hi PGS,

For a better understanding of this issue, please read these posts:
part 1
part 2

Baseline, deleting the .ci files will affect exchange search service. If the content indexing files or folder are deleted, when the Exchange search service is restarted it will automatically recreate the indexes.

Best wishes!
