| Hi,
I've had a major problem with XP AntiVirus2008 & Trohan.Fake Alerts, but have managed to clear these by following the instructions on other threads in this forum (Bullguard; CCleaner; SuperAntiSpywar; ComboFix; & Malware Bytes Aniti-Malware) - Thanks!
However, I've now got a couple of problems on my Dell 4600 XP (SP3) PC, on which I've got a couple of accounts set-up.
Most importantly, neither user account can now send/receive emails using Outlook Express 6 - In all cases a "0x800CCC0F" error is displayed. Is this because I (foolishly?) deleted files quarantined by BullGuard etc. in the de-virusing process? I can't do a System Restore, as I switched this Off/On as part of the virus cleaning process. (I have the Bullguard Firewall enabled and the XP Firewall disabled).
but when I try to Re-register the libraries as he suggests, for mshtml.dll, I get the following error "mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found; The file can not be registered".
In response to the above error, I've downloaded the "RegCure" tool listed in Simple-PC-Help.com/Outlook "Do you Have Problems with 0x800CCC0f?". (Having scanned it with BullGuard et al 1st). This has apparently identified many registry problems, but I am reluctant to register & buy this tool, without knowing that it is safe AND that it will cure the problem(s).
Also, one of the accounts has a minor issue in that it can't set-up the deskptop dispay i.e. Display Properties doesn't offer the Desktop or Screen Saver Tabs. I'm not sure if this is also caused by registry problems?
Please can you offer some advice - Any help gratefully accepted!
Thanks,
Chris |
