Ok,

I have had a few problems with burning cd's for about four weeks or so.. I have followed several pointers from microsoft as well as other help threads. Here is my problem...

I get an error message the says E:/ not acccessible - Incorrect Function.

This problem occurs on two different burners, one a cd burner and the other is a brand new Dvd burner, (I have not had both in at the same time). I have installed the Nero software that came with the Dvd and I have also followed microsofts advice about how to solve the problem. With the Microsoft help I was able to at least get the properties in the Burner to show the recording option. But I can't burn from Microsoft Windows Media Player. When I select a list of songs to burn it tells me to connect a burner..

From some info I have read Nortons interferes with some burners and I was wondering if Bullguard may be having some difficulties in this area. I have tried to turn off Bullguard and then burn but still no luck. The strange thing is that on the Laptop where I have Bullguard Gamers running as well I have no problems at all so I don't think this is the problem as it has never been a problem before.

I hope someone out there can HELP me confused  I am running out of ideas and pulling my hair out nowfreaked

Ok..  I am going to do a reboot and see if I can at least drop and burn pictures or music files..

So sorry for the very late reply here.. I have had no end of trouble trying to log in to the forums and post messages.

Ok, I had to go into the registry and change a few things and I found the following instructions which solved my problems.

1. run "services.msc"
2. click IMAPI CD-Burning COM service
3. if startup type is not "automatic" then change to "automatic"
4. reboot computer
The CD burner was also set to be read only, when I changed it to a burner I then had to perform the above steps and it worked.

I don't know why this had changed but it took me a week to figure out.
