Hi i want to check if anybody else than me experience the following bug ...

When setting a permit for an application Allow/Block/Ask then next time i open that application
bullguard simply overrides my settings if anything else than Allow.

I want full control to check what happens with my internet connections, by setting them mostly to ask.
I then anticipate that next time i open an application and want access, i should have a request field asking
for permit so i can give it one time / temp access to the net - but no > what i experience is that bullguard
overrides my settings by creating a new entry saying that the application is trusted by bullguard and allow
full access.

The same is experienced if i set an application to be blocked.

There is no point in setting an application to other than allow, since if not > bullguard gamers edition overrides
your control.

When i have more information about what happens i will report it as a bug, but until then ...

... anybody else having the same problem ?

Hi Highball,

can you check this for me: Do you have a checkmark in the setting "Automatically apply rules for known applications"?

If yes, this might be why you experiencing this. Please have a look and let us know, and feel free to add more detailed information if you believe you've come across a bug.

Hi ...

I sometimes work too fast so this was my fault - i overlooked the option. Yes it works except for one application.
Description of process:

I dechecked the tag in "Automatically apply rules for known applications".

And as such when i (1) don't set checkmarks in the two fields in the system request message
[sending to bullguard for analysis and remember my answer]
and (2) just click no in the system request message
... it works and sets application permissions in "custom security / application" rules to [ask].

So far so good: This works, but in order to see changes and how they behaved i removed all application entries
to have bullguard to insert them like it does in a default installation.
Here comes the funny situation ... it does with all applications - except my outlook express > I have no entry
in application rules - but when i open my outlook express and click send recieve it simply access and downloads
without either asking me or setting an entry in the application rules.

In this situation i have experienced it with Windows Vista home / Bit 32.

1. I have rebooted after the discovery of this override (it could mean a window bug or a reboot
to activate) - nothing = no entry and auto access.

2. I closed bullguard and restart. Opened outlook and click [send/recieve] - nothing = no entry and auto access

3. I i closed bullguard and rebooted machine - same procedure - nothing = no entry and auto access

4. I manually created a new entry in application rules: default properties path ...

"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe" - set it to ask, opened mail and same procedure - nothing = no
system request - bullguard simply allow auto access.

5. I set outlook express to be blocked - same procedure - even with a block of the default .exe outlook file
(not a shortcut) i had auto access !!!

unfortunately i didn't have any clue of what would happen with this process before i removed all entries, BUT
if there are no entries except the bullguard default entries like the default and new installation - it should by all
means create an entry for outlook express when opened and activated >>> but it doesn't.

Any suggestion or explanation ?

If not i will report it as a bug (i work fast - but sometimes too fast, so it could be my fault)

Regards...

Hi Highball

I am pretty sure the old version (the Steel Security one) used to do this also. I think it was the only communication which seemed to be allowed no matter what. Unfortunately I totally forgot about it and I don't really use Outlook Express much any more so I didn't get to test it in the Beta... also I was late on-board due to moving. It does seem to be one of the only firewalls that has this behaviour.

Maybe one of the Bullguard team could do a quick test, I'm sure the non-gamers version has the same behaviour.

=)

Hi ...

Seems then it is a general problem. I am between annoyance and "what the heck". But i have reported some
bug related problems with my outlook express long time ago, and the staff might find it a minor bug
related to other issues - idk ?

On the other hand though - they have managed to concoct a brew, that in my eyes are very optimal:
Firewall, Scanner and game control.

It helps that to know i'm not the only one having the same problem. If u happen to know anybody that solved the problem
i would like to know, since i have decided to subscribe a year. If they dont solve the issue within that year, then i will
change to another product.

One reason is that i am from Denmark and like to support a danish product (call it national empathy *LOL*), but
issues can be overwhelming in the long run that they cause me to change.

One other reason to maybe change is ... i simply dont understand why they have a fixed window size. THIS is
really annoying since i want to read the path to an application that all of a sudden wants net access without
being activated: In the system message i simply can't read the full path.
And when the bullguard detects an attack i have to scroll up and down - back and forth to get any kind of info
about the attacker's ip and other info.
Other issues also prevents me from getting the full info because i can't resize the window to appropiate size.

Also ... i have very early in my testings suggested a panic button to instantly cut the net connection (and place the button
on the desktop). They implemented the panic button shortly after (so they do listen to their customers) but they didn't
implement an option to place it on the dekstop - instead inside firewall overview. We can place a shortcut to the
onlive backup drive - so why not the panic button ? Beats me.
Or ... an option to instantly kill net connection by right clicking the icon in system tray - would be optimal ! Now as it is
i have to open the application - click on firewall - grab the overview fan - and set checkmark in panic button.
takes too much time !

Maybe they in some ways are bright and skilled and in others ways don't have any clue about how to ?

But thx very much for your reply.
Regards ...
