when i reboot my pc
(intel dual E6600 / asus gt 7800 overclock ediditon / 2 gb ddr ect)

then it takes a very long time to do start up. Over 2 x normal time

Counter strike source takes over 40 seconds (first time i start it up after a reboot its over 50 secounds)

normal speed is below 10 seconds

Any one experienced this ?

( i even recorded the css startup on my mobile phone if people dont believe it can be this slow)

I doubt my games have increased more than a sec or two in startup time. However, I do have some latency when restarting.

I'll check it up tomorrow, and post the results here.

Hey all,

Some of you reported increased loading time for Counter Strike: Source and other have noticed increased computer boot time. Rest assured, we are studying these behaviors and we'll do our best to fix them in the shortest time possible.

I think that this slowdown is caused by the HL2 and Mods profile. The default profile settings block Steam and internet browsers from accessing the internet when active. If you go in and edit the profile for HL2 + Mods to allow Steam access it improves the load time.

The same thing happens with DoD Source and other Source Mods.

I have not noticed a slowdown on boot/reboot on my machine though:
(AMD X2 4800+ (2.4GHz 2x1MB version) 2GB DDR400, Go7800GTX)

I'm not sure why by default it should block steam as this causes other issues. The game will disconnect regularly as steam can't authenticate the user for a start. Why block Firefox/IE as well? I know lots of people who will Alt+Tab to read something.

I haven't had any slowdowns on startup/restarting the comp or launching a game. Im on xp, duo core, 1.5gb ram

but i do have an issue...after i exit a game my screen freezes for like 15 secs, my mouse cursor barely moves. I've tried games like Portal (HL2 + Mods), halo and halo ce (i created the profiles). When i turn off the gaming plugin i don't have this problem.

anyone has this issue too?
