hello im having issues with a system tray icon.

i just got a virus connected with SpyLocked i managed to get rid of crap it gave me with spybot and adaware but it has left me with this one system tray icon with no name and no box appears when i hover my mouse over it. i have read a few ways to get rid of systemtray icons but all them need you to have the name of the icon but as this one has no flipping name i cant get rid of it. it keeps changing pictures between a blue circle with a question mark inside it and a red circle with a line red line trough it(much like a no smoking sine with out the picture of the cigarette), if i left or right click on it then it just takes me to a page saying i should downlode SpyLocked. it dose not seem to be doing any damage to my computer and i think i have got rid of the rest of this virus but that bloody icon is starting to bug me.

Any help in getting rid of this system tray icon would be much appreciated and any info on this virus also would be very help full

much thanks Danny.

I've got the same problem. I ran both SmitFradFix and AVG Anti-Spyware and the icon is still there. Everything else appears to be fixed.
I ran through all of the filenames people listed that should be removed and they are gone.
I put a hijackthis log onto the Virus Removal forum on this site but nobody has replied as of yet.
I wonder how many of us have this problem?

Hey guys, well i guess there is atleast 3 people with this problem. If only murder was legal id string these !!!!ers up that cause such annoying problems such as these. Im currently trying to find a way to get rid of that icon also. No luck so far, still looking in forums for an answer....fingers crossed i find one. Currently im just put the icon to "always stay hidden"...its still there but atleast I dont see those !!!!!!ed pop up ballons that i have spywear. No !!!!...that is the spywear. Id just like to know what !!!!!! would actually purchase "Spylocked"??? I'd rather surgically remove my testicals with a dull spoon than buy that !!!!. Then again.....there are lot of stupid people out there.....maybe some fall for it? Anyway....still on the hunt for an answer, if i find one I'll pass it along!

hi
if you have a flashing icon on your system tray that switches between a blue question mark sign to a red cross sign over which if you move your mouse pointer or if you click it or right click it - nothing happens and nothing gets displayed no message window pops up.. but when you try to open a website, some other webpages open up instead and it also hangs your os..

i had this problem as well - i have win98se.. i tried searching for some spyware or something running in the background (through system config) but did not find anything..  installed AVG Antivirus but it was useless(it could not find anything) i then installed a spyware software but that too proved useless.. so i decided to search for the file myself and found a file named nuqjici.dll in the system folder which i was unable to move or rename cuz it was showing that it is in use.. so i restarted my computer in dos mode and then renamed the file(i did not delete it thinking maybe its a system file or some other useful file) and when i restarted my computer - the icon disappeared and everything started working fine - then i deleted that file and also searched for its entry in the registry and deleted it..

so if you are facing the same problem - then search for a file named NUQJICI.DLL if you find it you can do what i did..
cya..

and another thing - if you are facing simmilar problems but did not find this file maybe you have some other virus of the same family - you can search for the most recent files (dll or exe) in c drive(and its subfolders particularly system and system32) and then maybe try to identify that virus - by recent i mean from the day you started facing the problem..
best of luck guys...
ok then.. bye bye now..
