This began yesterday. Laptop worked fine in the morning...than WHAM. Things went screwy. Out of the blue.

Here's what's up with it:

Desktop tool bar now gray--not the bright blue color as usual per XP default scheme

Can't copy/paste/drag files or folders to another (ex: can't copy/paste or drag photos to my memory stick)--simply won't do anything

Can't connect to internet via wireless nor cable-cord thingy

Makes god-awful single beep sound during start up.

My virus software is functioning now, either.

Then the following 'warnings' pop-up once desktop loaded:

1.)Windows Defender not loaded correctly...something like that.

2.)Wireless Config-"notification dll"

I'm not sure how to check my anti-virus software to check for possible virus takeover. confused

Some may say I'm overreacting and I am. Reason being our baby's first pictures are on the laptop and I'm desperate to save them, as they are the only copies we have. cry

I'll provide as much additional information as needed, if helpful.

Just checked my virus vault. Have the following 'virus name' (s):

Trojan Horse BackDoor.Agent.DSQ
Trojan Horse Prox.ABTA
Virus identified Win32/PEPatch.BV
Trojan horse PSW.Generic6.KBH

Each has file names listed after.

Does this help at all???

After You have run the scan tools -

Reboot normally

Post Hijackthis log along with SuperAntiSpyware log, , C: combofix TXT in this topic

Please copy and paste your log. DO NOT add it as an attachment

Kindly do not annotate or format the log with color or font changes.

Do NOT post your problem in someone elses thread.
