One thing that I have to say.  If Windows3.1 and up is so bad.  Then why do most computers have Windows you fool.  Linux is good to, but there are a lot more programs and Apps for Windows.  But not to many for Linux.  Take note that I am not dissing on Linux, Linux is good to.  But Windows is one of the few really good OS around.

We've had this on another forum but,
it's not that the OS's are so bad it's the so called archetecht I object to, and the reason for so much to do with windows is because for almost three decades he had the market all to himself. I am a Linux nut (accent on nut) shocked And I've seen so many new programs for not only Linux but Windows as well that came from open source. Programs I might add enhance the windows operating system and make them more secure. Ever hear of Mozilla, what about sendmail, And obviously you've heard of bullguard. the man that taught me says that he believes that bullguard durives from the firewall prtection found in linux Wich is loosely based in unix, which is the granddaddy of all OS's no it's not windows It's Bill Gates that we have fun trashing, because he can't see the forest for the trees. He's trying tokill Linux Because he has something similar and because of the open source GNP license agreements he can't put it in he owns it your just renting category. That's why he delayed the release of Longhorn the most stable of the windows operating systems yet (which Is'nt saying alot) because he can't nail it down And those whom have previewed it says it's alot like Linux closer to the roots of all OS's . Well enough of the sermon. waiting on your responce.

My final though to what you said.
Windows is still a good OS, from some of IBM's first PC's up to 2004. There is no sign of Mircosoft dying any time soon. Also, when longhorn comes out. Intel is going to release there newest CPU that runs at 20Ghz and was said to run for mainly longhorn and XP.

One final reply to that,
yes microsoft (unfortunatley) is here to stay, but as i said the OS's are not his major problem HE is. the longhorn coming out is going to be used for the 64 bit technologies, that's good, but, he has not released it yet because of this, in Europe right now there is a patent fight going on for My beloved open source codes to be made proprietary if he wins then he can issue world wide patents and that will effectivly cut off open source, right now if longhorn was to be released, the feeling is that it's so much like Linux that it would fall under the GNP license agreement and he would have to make that public. Look it up I'm not joking. that's why he's doing everything he can to silence open source, even though two thirds of the world would'nt know what to do with them anyway(myself included).
                     Well enough for today.

That is part of it destroyer, I'll admit that, but if open source gets shut down, and that can happen if Mr. Gates get's his way then think about all the programs that could be lost, mozilla is a java based browser that is used primarily by Linux, it's most notable copier is netscape, they are now foraying into windows territory, with firefox it's so much like IE 6 it ain't even funny, more secure taboot. then there's star office, wich originally was supposed to be office, sun micro made that open source, because gates screwed him on that deal, then there's 602 software, not sure if that's open or not,but still free none the less. Things like that are great for people such as myself who could use something like that but really can't afford it, and if Gates has his way all of that would be gone. Even in his own OS's he's not immune, Remember the lawsuit brought against Microsoft for stealing codes in media player 9, settled for 638 million dollars and has to pay royalties on top of that. That happened to a co. right in your neck of the woods. Oh the patent thing he's also trying to do in Britain  or France not sure where. Wow! Long answer!

No destroyer I don't think so, reading your posts tells me you think about the other side as well, I believe you could see the benefits of open source and find ways to incorporate them into your work, Besides if Gates would read the GNU license he find that his stuff could be propiatary he just has to reveal the source code for the rest.
