I zero-filled and formatted my hard drive, and when I got windows xp up and installed again, weird stuff started happening.
The computer keeps doign an NT Authority or whatever to restart the system, but that's not a problem I've seen that before. What's weird is, I can't get into MSN messenger, and also it says I'm not a system administrator, and my Send and Receieve lights on my cable modem are on constantly. Only antivrisu program I have is AVG, and it detects nothing. I tried installing Bullguard but there was some error so it said it couldn't install.
Anyways can someone help me? I just want these problems to go away. Oh and when it tries to shut the system down, it says something about "lsass.exe"
Looks like a trojan has somehow got onto the system. I had the exacly problem and still dont know how it got on there so quick because i only had it running for 30 minutes, and i too got the NTAuthority and the flashing lights, I would get a firewall installed immediatly, or if it is not too much trouble, prefeble reformat the hard drive again, and make sure the first thing you install is anti-virus, a firewall and some spyware scanners such as pestpatrol and ad-aware. Making sure that firewall is top priority
If it is constantly sending and reciving, there must be a process doing this. If you shutdown processes ( in task manager ) you should be able to narrow it down to what is doing this.
Have a try at zonealarm, that can be pretty tough at shutting down. Also look for a process that is using a lot of memory of processor resorces, that may be the cause
