Hi touch, wakari here,

I haven;t had the need to contact you for a long time. Your previous advice has been extremly effective.

However there seems to have been a download that has taken over my computer. I load to the internet through ihug and the page goes to some virus offer.. There has been a extra menu bar inserted and spylocked antivirus software keeps being advertised and keeps throwing up virus warnings.

Can you help please.

regards

Hi wakari. You´re right, it was last Year smile

See if You can remove spylock from add/remove programs in controlpanel.

Then click here - ->>  Before posting a log

After You have run the scan tools -

Reboot normally

Post AVG Antispyware log along with hijackthis log, rootchk log
in this thread and tell how things are running

Hi Touch,

Thanks once again.

Spybot seemed to do the trick it removed whatever had been downloaded.

This is a dastardly business, dealing with viruses or theses horrible downloads.

Here are the logs.

It looks like You have a haxdoor infection as well -

Download haxfix.exe
and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on haxfix.exe to install haxfix. (standard installation path is c:\program Files\haxfix)
  • Checkmark "Create a desktop icon"
  • Click "Next"
  • When the installation is completed, make sure that the checkmark "Launch HaxFix" is placed
  • Click "Finish"

A red "dos window" (dos box) will open with options:
1. Make logfile
2. Run auto fix
3. Run manual fix
E. Exit Haxfix
  • Select option 1. Make logfile by typing 1 and then pressing Enter
  • Haxfix will start scanning the computer. When it is finished a logfile will open: haxlog.txt > (c:\haxfix.txt)
  • Copy the contents of that logfile and paste it into this thread.

Ok

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (normally C:), and launch from there.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad as you will be in Safe Mode and unable to refer to this page.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, normally  C:\rapport.txt

Post a fresh hijackthis log using hjt exe with rapport txt, and tell how your computer are behaving

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

It looks like You have (had) a wareout infection as well smilewinkgrin

Please download FixWareout:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Close it

You may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log

Thanks smilewinkgrin

Run Hijackthis and place a check beside each of the following. Close all other browser windows except HJT.
Click fix checked:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {184746EC-9E9D-4C7D-B9E7-9039EBD801A9} - C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access\iesplg.dll (file missing)

Run Haxfix -

Select option 2. Run auto fix by typing 2, and then pressing Enter.
If an infection is found, you'll get a message to close all other open windows.
Close them, except the red dos window from haxfix and then press Enter.
The computer will reboot.
After reboot a logfile will open. Save that log.

Post the Haxfix log and tell how things are running ?

I don´t need more hijackthis log´s

Hi Touch,

Completed the HJT and Haxfix as directed. The computer did not reboot and did not produce a log.

The computer seems to be running OK again. All the strange things that were happening have gone now I think. I will need to give it some use over the weekend to be sure.

Will get back later if anything occurs.

regards
