Backup your e-mails

 

Step-by-step guide on how to backup e-mails.

 

The E-mail Backup Guide is similar to the file Guide and follows the same order when being set up. The only difference is that you will not have the Backup folders/files filter, and will need to actively choose the e-mail client from which to backup e-mails from.

 

To setup your backup profiles, you need click on DASHBOARD, then Backup and restore and click on the Manage Backup button, which will take you to the profiles overview page. There are 2 ways in which you can manage your backed up data. If you already have a profile created, just select it and press “Edit selected”.

Otherwise, please follow the steps below to create a new email backup profile.

Step 1

 

Once you click on the Add new button, you will be shown a welcome screen. Click Next to go to the next step.

Step 2

 

When starting the Backup Guide, select the appropriate e-mail client option and click Next to proceed.

Step 3

 

Select the desired e-mail client. BullGuard Backup has built-in support for Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express (Windows XP only), Windows Mail (Windows Vista only) and Mozilla Thunderbird.

If several users have access to the e-mail client on the same Windows Account, you may need to select your own e-mail identity to backup.

 

Please choose the e-mail folders you would like BullGuard to back up from your computer.

Step 4

 

In the next step, you will need to choose the location where you want to backup the files. The backup can be stored on the Online Drive, on a CD/DVD or on the local computer (usually using an external hard disk).

All Backup profiles can be scheduled to either start at a convenient time avoiding computer slowdowns, or to backup important documents on a regular basis preventing information loss.

Never, I’ll start it myself: You will need to run this profile manually to backup the information.

 

While my computer is idle: The profile will only run in the background when the computer is not being used. If any action is performed on the computer, the backup process will pause.

 

 

I want to select a schedule: You can set the profile to run automatically at set time intervals. This will ensure that any information included in the profile will be backed up on a regular basis.

Step 6

 

The Advanced Backup settings allow you to further customize your profile by adding special features such as encryption, versioning and backup compression. When done, click Finish.

The profile will now appear in the profile list accessible form the main Backup section. That is also where you can edit, rename, run or delete it.
