Built-in support for Outlook, Windows mail, Mozilla Thunderbird and IncrediMail

BullGuard has built-in support for Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express (Windows XP only), Windows Mail (Windows Vista only), Mozilla Thunderbird and IncrediMail. The Training Guide is a user-friendly and easy-to-use tool greatly improving the Spamfilter’s efficiency. You can start the Guide from both the e-mail client and the BullGuard application.

Please note: If you use web-based e-mail addresses (e.g. Gmail or Hotmail) you should not need spam protection, as it will already be provided by the e-mail service provider.

Along with customising the Spamfilter directly from the application, a very important step is to complete the Training Guide for the preferred e-mail client. This is very important as it will fine tune the Spamfilter, increasing the accuracy of detecting spam e-mails and identifying legitimate e-mails.

The Guide should automatically start the first time you open your e-mail client after installing BullGuard. You can also run it manually by simply clicking the Wizard button from the Spamfilter toolbar that is added to your e-mail client toolbar.

Running the Guide

Step 1

Running the Guide from the BullGuard application is a quick way of setting up the Spamfilter for the preferred e-mail client.

To start the Guide, click on the Training button that corresponds to the email client of your choice in Spamfilter > Advanced Settings > E-mail clients section. Alternatively, you can open your email client and click on the Launch Wizard option from the Spamfilter toobar.

Note: the Spamfilter can be configured to parse emails from more than one email client. Simply run the Spamfilter wizard for all e-mail applications you wish to use.

Step 2

BullGuard will read all the addresses you have in the marked folders to create a whitelist of contacts - make sure you only select the ones where you are sure there is no Spam email - such as Sent Emails, Contacts, Drafts and others. This will greatly reduce the 'false positive' detection of legitimate e-mails as spam.

Step 3

At this step select folders containing only SPAM e-mails. You can select several folders. Make sure the selected folders do not contain legitimate e-mails as it can create problems with increased 'false positive' detection rates.

Once you click on Finish BullGuard will analyze the content of the folders you have selected for both spam and non-spam e-mails and populate the whitelist/blacklist.

Note: By default BullGuard will add e-mail addresses you unblocked using the Not Spam button in the BullGuard toolbar to your Spamfilter whitelist.

Finally, should you wish to change the folder your Spam emails will be moved to, open Spamfilter Settings > Advanced > E-mail clients and click on Set folder. Select the folder of your choice and click on Finish.
