Activating your BullGuard subscription
You may experience that your BullGuard continues to state that you have a trial, even though you have just purchased a subscription. Or that your subscription is still expired, even though you just renewed it.
This is caused by the fact that your account-status is stored on our online server, and your local copy of BullGuard has to check this server, before it can know that your status has changed. Normally, BullGuard checks this status every time you start your computer, but if you are not connected to the internet through a DSL connection, or if your DSL connection is not active when BullGuard launches, this may cause the above problem.
You have now 3 easy ways of fixing this.
Note: This guide is for BullGuard v9.0.
If you have bought BullGuard in a store, click here to activate your BullGuard subscription.
If you have just purchased an activation code from our website, please do the following:
First, connect to the Internet and double-click the BullGuard icon in your System tray (bottom-right corner, next to the clock):
Next, the BullGuard interface will open and you can go to the Main section.
In the Main section, click on the Your BullGuard account button.
Once in the Your BullGuard account page, simply write the key in the License key box and press the Submit licence key button. Note that a licence key can only be used when activating the paid account. When trying to use the key more than once, the users will receive an error message that the license key is already in use.
The licence keys are acquired either when buying a BullGuard CD or a new computer that has a BullGuard preinstalled version present. The subscription type and length depends on what BullGuard version the users bought and, for preinstalled computers, it depends on the offers the PC manufacturer has available.
How to open the Bullguard interface
To open the interface double click the BullGuard red icon in the System Tray (in the lower right corner of the computer screen where the computer clock is located) or right click it and choose the Show BullGuard option. Or simply doubleclick the BullGuard icon you have on your desktop.
Using paid account after reinstalling BullGuard
To continue using the paid account when reinstalling BullGuard, the users will only need to login with the same username and password used when activating the licence key. Using a licence key only extends the expiration date so the remaining subscription time is not lost.
Just after this, go to the Main section of BullGuard, choose Account from the upper menu and click the Enter License-key button.
If you have renewed your account from our website, the subscription should be activated automatically.
If this does not work, you may have accidentally purchased BullGuard under a different or misspelled username (email address) than the one you are currently using.
If this is the case, please check the confirmation email sent to you after the purchase and find your username there.
The user currently logged in is shown in the Change user section and on the Main page of the BullGuard interface. Clicking on the Change user button will display the Login window where users can re-log with their account details or with a new BullGuard account. In case the password was changed or reset, it is necessary to relog with the new account details.
All accounts are kept in our database to which BullGuard will connect and read the subscription details. Depending on your subscription, you will have access to either all modules of the BullGuard application or to specific modules only, such as Spamfilter or Backup.
Through the Account tab in the Main section you can interact directly with your BullGuard subscription and will be able to change the logged-in user, to upgrade your subscription, to renew it or to extend subscription time by adding licence keys.
Note that the registration process is available only when you first install BullGuard on the computer. If another version was previously installed on the computer, the register option will be grayed out.
All BullGuard Internet Security account can be used on up to three different computers at the same time. Users will need to upgrade their subscription if they need more than three computer protected with the same account.
All BullGuard accounts are protected by a username and a password which the customer is asked to create when registering for the first time. The username must be a valid e-mail address to which all BullGuard related e-mails (including payment confirmations) will be sent.
Account options allow users to choose whether they want BullGuard to login automatically at the next startup by using the provided account details (Login automatically option) and to setup their proxy server details if necessary (I use a proxy connection option ).
Remember, your BullGuard username is your email address.
If you have forgotten your password, you can ask for a new one here: Get a new password
Now BullGuard connects to our server and checks your account. It will start running like you have a paid subscription instead of a trial one.
