How to remove temporary files
WHAT ARE TEMPORARY FILES? A cache (folder with the temporary files) is a place to store something more or less temporarily. For instance, when you visit a web page it's stored in your browser's cache directory on your hard disk. This is done in order to speed up repeated access to the same website.
If you download something from a website and it contains an infected file, this file will also be stored in your cache on your hard disk drive. This is why we recommend that you delete all temporary Internet files or temporary system files periodically. |
It is recommended to periodically delete all temporary files on your computer. To delete the temporary Internet files and the temporary system files, please follow the guide below:
Note: This guide is for BullGuard v8.0. If you are using Windows Vista, choose the following guide: BullGuard v8.0 for Vista.
Open BullGuard
Disable BullGuard's firewall and anti-virus from BullGuard's Console. Double-click the BullGuard icon in your system tray (bottom right corner, just next to the clock):

Disable the BullGuard Antivirus and Firewall
Disable the BullGuard Antivirus from the Antivirus section > Overview tab > Disable Antivirus option.

Disable the BullGuard Firewall from the Firewall section > Overview tab > Disable Firewall option.
Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Temporary Internet Files section and choose to Delete the files.


Disk Cleanup utility
Run the Disk Cleanup utility of Windows. You can find this in the Start menu > Programs > Accessories > System Tools.

Folders
Locate the two folders (Temporary Internet Files & Temp) on your harddisk using Windows Explorer and the path indicated by the vscan.log report file and empty them:
Select all the files within those folders: CTRL+A, then press the Delete key.

You might not be able to see some hidden files and folders.
In order to be able to see the hidden files and folders, please follow the next steps:
Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View:
- Check "Show hidden files and folders"
- Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".


That's it. You have now successfully removed all temporary files.
