iPhone Users Becoming More Attractive Targets To Cybercrooks?

Are you engaging in unsafe behaviour on your mobile device that could be putting your mobile security at risk?
A while back we were discussing the increasing number of malicious software targeting mobile devices, especially those running the Android operating system. Android has been the most popular malware target, in part due to its open source platform which makes it easier for cybercriminals to find and exploit platform flaws. And what’s even more alarming is that reportedly, Google's App Verification Service in the latest Android version performs very poorly at identifying malicious apps, detecting only 15.32% of known malware, compared to mobile security apps from specialized companies. Now, thank goodness there’s BullGuard Mobile Security to help you curb unwanted attacks and malware infections. As the important and valuable information you carry around with you on a daily basis becomes increasingly vulnerable, the antivirus features in BullGuard’s suite protects your Android from viruses, spyware and other malware.

But what about iPhone users?

How safe are they from cybercriminals’ malicious attacks? A recent report issued by Javelin Strategy&Research shows that even though Android is still the most targeted platform, mobile security might become an increasing concern for iOS users as well. Why?

Apparently, it all comes down to Spending Power

iPhone users do more shopping on their phones than say Android or Blackberry owners. This isn’t an issue of usability, but rather, size of bank accounts. Interestingly enough, iPhone users tend to have more in the bank than their Android sisters and Blackberry brothers. In any case, if you’re an iPhone user, by no means do you need to stop shopping online (phew!), but you do need to be careful about linking through to suspicious links. This is much easier to do on an iPhone than on your computer, so pay close attention. Having a firewall and antivirus protection is good, but you need more – always stay informed! Subscribe to the BullGuard blog and build your knowledge of the latest threats online and in the mobile world.
