BullGuard: Best in Test at Stiftung Warentest

Paul Lipman, CEO of BullGuard, says the award reflects continuous innovation

London, 31th March 2016: German consumer organization Stiftung Warentest has ranked BullGuard Internet Security 2016 the top product in a group test of security suites. It was voted “best-in-class” by the German consumer champion for its antivirus capabilities, a nomination that follows a ‘Best Buy’ award from UK consumer organisation Which?

Paul Lipman, CEO at BullGuard, said “We’re delighted that BullGuard has received this prestigious award. The quality of our products is the result of our core focus; we invest heavily in product development with continuous innovation and improvements. These investments are reflected by the great results in this test and in the satisfaction of our customers.”

In total 17 software products with firewall and virus protection were tested, alongside three freeware products.

All products were evaluated over a four-week period in which the software had to detect a wide range of common threats including viruses, Trojans and ransomware such as ‘Locky’, which recently left a trail of devastation in its wake.

This aspect of the test represented 65 per cent of the final evaluation. Product management accounted for 25 per cent, and PC integration 10 per cent.

Stiftung Warentest concluded that BullGuard Internet 2016 represents the best protection, while in contrast the freeware tools rarely provide adequate security. Specifically, it flagged up BullGuard antivirus protection and the firewall, as well as parental controls, phishing and spam protection.

The Stiftung Warentest commendation is one of a number of awards that BullGuard Internet Security has received. With multiple protection layers, it offers high levels of security against all types of malware including deeply damaging ransomware.

In addition, features ranging from spam filters, powerful parental controls and a safe browsing component alert users to unsafe web sites that may be harbouring viruses. It also stops unwanted applications from taking over browsers and search engines, includes a vulnerability scanner that detects out-of-date software and a PC Tune Up tool that keeps a computer running at optimum performance levels.

Users also get 5GB of free advanced back up, which includes the ability to back up directly to both BullGuard’s servers and Dropbox accounts. Backups can be scheduled and synchronized to offer maximum control.
