BullGuard Firewall keeps telling me an application has been allowed to use the Internet. Am I safe?

 

The applications which are automatically allowed access to the Internet have been previously tested by us and are legitimate applications. You do not need to worry, as no viruses will be allowed automatic Internet access.

 

BullGuard Firewall keeps asking me about applications wanting to access the Internet? What do I do?

 

When asked if you allow an application to connect to the Internet, tick the option Remember my answer and then click on Allow or Don't Allow, depending on your wishes. This will teach the Firewall how to proceed when a certain application wants to connect to the Internet, so that you are not asked every time you use that program.

 

I just installed BullGuard and my Internet Connection has stopped working. What do I do now?

 

Open BullGuard and select the Firewall section then click on the Application Rules icon. Make sure that your Internet browser is set to Allow.

If it is and you still cannot connect to the Internet, turn off the Firewall by clicking on the Firewall is active icon in the main Firewall window. Then contact Support for further troubleshooting.

 

I just installed BullGuard and my Internet Connection has slowed down significantly. What do I do now?

 

First of all check if the slowdown is caused by our Firewall by turning it off temporarily. You can do this by clicking on the Firewall is active icon in the main Firewall window. If the slowdown is solved please make sure all other Firewall applications are uninstalled and also that the Windows Firewall is turned off. Restart your PC after doing all this.

If the slowdown persists, contact Support for further troubleshooting.

 

I just installed BullGuard and I have some applications that no longer connect to the Internet. What do I do now?

 

Open BullGuard and select the Firewall section then click on the Application Rules icon. Make sure that the applications are set to Allow.

If the programs are not present in the Application Rules list, you may need to add them manually. Check this guide to learn how to add programs to the Firewall’s Application Rules.

 

I keep getting attack warnings from the BullGuard Firewall. Am I safe?

 

If you have received a BullGuard Firewall attack notification, you need not worry as this means that the attack has been successfully blocked. The Firewall’s default action is to temporarily ban the attacker’s IP for 300s (5 minutes).

 

LAN computers no longer available after installing BullGuard. What do I do?

 

If you can no longer see or access the other computers from your LAN after installing BullGuard, open our application and go to the Firewall section > Firewall Settings menu. In the Subnets tab make sure your LAN details are present then tick all boxes from the Trusted Subnets list. Restart your computer and you should be able to see/access the computers again.

 

I cannot ping my LAN computer. What can I do?

 

If you can no longer ping another computer from your LAN after installing BullGuard, open our application and go to the Firewall section > Firewall Settings menu. In the Subnets tab make sure your LAN details are present and that the corresponding boxes are ticked.

Also, go to the Application Rules section from the Firewall menu and choose the ICMP Rules tab. Make sure [0] Echo Reply and [8] Echo Request have both In and Out options enabled.

 

I am getting attacks from my router/gateway or LAN PC's. What do I need to do?

 

You can add the IP address of the device or as a trusted host in BullGuard. This would stop the Firewall from detecting it as an attacker.

You can do so in the Firewall section in BullGuard > Firewall settings menu. Select the Security tab, click on the Configure... button next to Enable attack detection then click on Exclude trusted hosts from attack detection. Click on + , enter the IP Address in the Address field and 255.255.255.255 in the Subnet Mask field.

Finally, click 3 times on OK in order for the settings to be saved.

 

"BullGuard detected changes to your network configuration". Why do I keep getting this notice?

 

This notice simply states that your current network configuration has been detected. You do not need to worry about it. If you wish, you can disable this notification from the Firewall section in BullGuard > Firewall settings menu > Alerts tab. Simply uncheck the option Notify me when network configuration changes are detected.

 

How can I turn off the Firewall notifications?

 

You can disable the Firewall notifications from the Firewall section in BullGuard > Firewall settings menu > Alerts tab.

 

When installing BullGuard the following error occurs: "My firewall can't be installed because the network settings could not be exclusively locked". How can I install my Firewall?

 

Go through your installed software, and look for network management applications. Uninstall these temporarily and try to reinstall BullGuard again. If your Firewall still won't install, please contact Support with the "BgInstallAssist.txt" file for further troubleshooting.
