In this section, you can configure the Tune Up features by:
- choosing what items the module will scan for
- defining regular sweeps on your computer
Disk space: lets you choose what items that may take up valuable disk space BullGuard should scan for.
Temporary Internet Files: when enabled, BullGuard will check how much space Temporary Internet Files take on your computer. The location of this folder is determined by Windows settings.
Temporary Windows Files: when enabled, BullGuard will check how much space Temporary Windows Files folder take on your computer. The location of this folder is also determined by Windows settings.
Deactivate hibernation: if you do not use the hibernation option, you can disable it in order to clear several GB of hard-disk space on the C: drive. It can be re-activated afterwards as follows:
- go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
- right-click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as Administrator"
- type-in "powercfg -h" and press Enter.
Remove Service Pack backup files: upon installing a newer Service Pack, Windows will automatically backup the files that will be replaced by the new Service Pack - this will allow the user to revert to the old Service Pack after the installation, if needed. Clearing the backup files will free space up, but will also remove the option of reverting back to the old Service Pack.
Registry: allows you to choose what registry items BullGuard will scan for to optimize the Windows Registry.
Start-up applications: lets you choose whether BullGuard should check the applications set to run at the Windows start-up.
Optional services: lets you disable several Windows optional services - this should cause your computer to start and run faster. However, certain applications or Windows functions may require some of these services to run - only disable them if you know they are not needed.
