Zeus (also known as Zbot, PRG, Wsnpoem, Gorhax and Kneber) is a Trojan horse that steals banking information by keystroke logging and Form Grabbing. Zeus is spread mainly through drive-by downloads and phishing schemes.
First identified in July 2007 when it was used to steal information from the United States Department of Transportation, it became widespread in March 2009. In June 2009, a security company discovered that Zeus had compromised over 74,000 FTP accounts on websites of such companies as the Bank of America, NASA, Monster, ABC, Oracle, Cisco, Amazon, and BusinessWeek.
On October 1, 2010, FBI announced it had discovered a major international cybercrime network which had used Zeus to hack into US computers and steal around $70 million. More than 90 suspected members of the ring were arrested in the US, and arrests were also made in UK and Ukraine.

What you need to know about computer worms
A Trojan horse, or Trojan, is a piece of software that claims to perform a desirable function prior to run or install, but (perhaps in addition to the expected function) steals information or harms the system.
Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces them onto your PC.
