Mobile trend_blogIs the end of computers coming? It’s possible…We’re definitely looking at an era where more and more people are choosing tablets, e-readers, and smartphones over laptops. And experts have predicted that 60% of the market growth for this year will be in those categories.

As our lives become busier, and we try to cram more into each and every day, it’s vital that we have devices that can keep up with us! Laptops just aren’t as flexible as other devices, and while they will remain important in the business category, with the personal area, they are rapidly losing relevance. It’s no surprise then that the tablet market is anticipated to grow by at least 42% this year. A huge chunk of that growth is expected to come from tablets 8” and under, a product category that pretty much didn’t even exist this time last year. This just goes to show how fast the market is evolving and growing.

A big part of this growth is related to the school system. Gone are the days of massive text books – say hello to textbooks on tablets! Many schools are piloting this new expansion this year, and it’s not just about saving the trees! It’s about creating efficiencies, allowing for more frequent updates, and aligning with the times.

None of this should come as a surprise. If you stand on any street corner, you will see a huge majority of people around you interacting with a device of some kind, and none of them will be a laptop!

As we become more mobile, so must our devices. However, with this new mobility comes new risks. Read up on the risks associated with WiFi Hotspots, and privacy. With more and more people using internet on their smartphones and tablets, the need for securing these devices increases.
